Add your Student to the RHE Directory Class Listings!

Would you like to know who else is in your student’s class, or are you struggling to figure out how to contact a classmate’s parent/guardian for a play date? The PTSA will soon be publishing this year’s student directory to help, but we need your permission to include your student and a good contact number for you in his/her class listing. To give your permission, please do one of the following:

  • Complete this online form. If you don’t already have a login for this site, it is not required you be a PTSA member to create one.
  • Complete this paper form (English and Spanish instructions are provided) and return it in your student’s red folder.

No action is required if you don’t want your student included in the directory’s class listings, but please note opting out of the directory’s alphabetical listing is a separate process managed by the district. If you have any questions related to the directory, please email us at rheptsamember@gmail.com.

Book Fair Next Week – Volunteers Needed

We're holding just one book fair this school year, so we hope to see you and/or your student at least once in the RHE Library from November 18 to November 22 (see below for hours). As always, we wouldn't be able to hold this popular event without much-appreciated volunteers, so please sign up here if you're willing to help out. It's a great way to meet other parents/guardians!

Hours
Before School: Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
After School: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 3:20 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 1:50 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
During School: Students' library time and open hours at recess

Sending Money
If you have a student in kindergarten through third grade and will be sending money for the book fair, please put it in a plastic bag with your student's name and the name of their teacher inside. This will help our librarian make sure any money that is dropped gets returned.

Spare Change
If you have change taking up space in your home, please consider donating it to the book fair. Students often forget about sales tax when making their purchases, so it would be great to have the extra few cents on hand needed to complete their transactions. Donations can made prior to the book fair in the library or office.

Looking for More Parenting Education Opportunities?

If you missed out on Love & Logic or are looking for additional parenting education opportunities, Mark Twain Elementary PTSA, with the support of LWPTSA, will be hosting "Nurturing to Independence," a presentation focused on the importance of giving children responsibility from a young age. By giving children a sense of purpose and responsibility, they can increase self-mastery, which in turn increases self-esteem.

Coach Sheri from Teen Wise will discuss the struggle of letting kids discover their independence while still maintaining their safety. Together, you will explore how to safely foster independence: gauging readiness, setting limits, giving appropriate consequences, and using contracts. Issues that come along with hanging out with friends, sleepovers, Internet use, extracurricular activities, grades, and pseudo-dating will also be discussed.

All LWSD parents/guardians are welcome to join on Monday, November 18, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Mark Twain Elementary Cafeteria, so feel free to share this event with your friends at other LWSD schools!

Interested in even more opportunities? Check out the LWPTSA's Calendar for showings of Screenagers.
